Christmas 2007

Razorback game at Alltel Arena.
Making cookies for Santa!
Digging through their stockings.
Four generations on both sides of the family! From L to R: Me, Austin, Mom, Nanny (Willodine Peterson), Mom Wilson (Ruby Wilson), Derek, and Dad
All the grandkids: Derek, Jody, Jarett, Austin, and Hailey. By the way, we'll need a new one of these in about 7 weeks!!!!!!!!

We got back yesterday from Pocahontas. We had an awesome week there! First, on our way up we stopped in Little Rock to watch the Hogs get beat by Appalachian State. Although we lost, we had great seats and I had so much fun watching the boys in that setting! Calling the hogs was a highlight for Derek. The band was the highlight for Austin. We spent Saturday night through Thursday night at mom and dad's. We had a great Christmas. Austin said, "Santa is a good man because he got me everything I wanted!". Derek got a PS2 and we didn't see much of him after it was plugged in in Dad's office. The office became affectionatley known as the "man cave" after that. If a man/boy was missing during the day, chances were they were in the "man cave" playing the PS2. We had over 30 for lunch on Christmas Day. Mom did a great job cooking. It's not often we get to stay so long for a visit, but I'm so glad it worked out this year. I truly love my family and wish I could see them more often!

Christmas Pictures

We had our Christmas/Maternity pictures taken today by a friend at church. Austin wasn't too cooperative and I'm not sure what is up with Derek's new smile! She did capture some good ones that will work for the annual Christmas card and some for the baby's book. If you would like to see more go to lairdphotography.smugmug.com Then go to proofs Jobe

Update

I went to the doctor yesterday. Everything was good. I had my sugar test, heard the heartbeat, and scheduled February 18th as Brylee's birthday (that is unless she wants to come earlier). Someone at school this week was asking about the nursery. When I said I hadn't even started, they couldn't believe it. So, I tried to explain that right now I'm just trying to survive until Christmas break. Then I'll have 8 1/2 weeks to get things just the way I want them! I am counting the days until break people! 8!

Jarett Wilson Baker

Baby Jarett entered the world around noon today. Julie and baby are doing great. There was some concern with Julie early on, but she's doing fine now. Austin and I are leaving for TX early in the morning. I'll post some pics when we return. Congratulations Jason and Julie!

Funny Prayer

Derek prayed tonight at dinner. He first prayed for the food and then proceeded to pray for Houston Nutt! He prayed that he would find a good job, but that the Hogs would beat his team if we played them!!!!!! I kept my laugh inside.

Doctor's appointment

I went to the doctor today. Everything is going fine. Her heartbeat sounded great. My veins hurt, but the support hose really help. I go back in 3 weeks and do the sugar test. YUCK! We talked about scheduling the date for the c-section. Nothing's set yet, but we're looking at February 18 (Monday) or the 20th (Wednesday). I'll schedule it for sure when I go back on Dec. 6th. By the way, we have settled on a name.........Brylee Rebecca Jobe! Mom had 3 girls and didn't name any of us after her. So here ya go Nana, Rebecca's just for you!

Things are good at work. But, man.....I'm ready for my extra 3 days off next week. Hopefully, we'll be heading to TX soon to see my new nephew. No pressure Julie! This is the first year ever that we don't have Thanksgiving plans. Kent and I talked about it tonight, and with gas over $3 and a trip to TX soon, we may stay put here in El Do. Who knows?!?

Frazzled!

Do you ever feel like a frazzled female? Lately that's how I've been describing myself. Between full time teaching, being a mom (of sick kids) and wife, being 6 months pregnant, job change for Kent, and still having my own responsibilities at church..........I'm frazzled! Thank God for His unconditional love and grace. I can't imagine going through all of this not being a Christian!

Trunk or Treat

My little Harding baseball player and Tony Stewart.
Dale and Tony together again!
Derek balloon popping.
Austin goal kicking.
Kent with 2 captain underpants, supergirl, batgirl, and cavewoman
We had our annual "trunk or treat" at church this afternoon. Kent and I disappointed several people by not dressing up. That has been our tradition the last few years, but we couldn't think of anything. Really, I thought a pregnant nun and a preist would be funny, but Kent didn't think that was appropriate...but it would have been stinkin' hillarious! The boys got so much candy, so it's back to the 2 pieces of candy a day rule.
Tomorrow I will be 23 weeks along. She is the calmest thing. Sometimes it concerns me that I don't feel her very often, but then she'll make her presence known with a little kick. I'm really curious to see how she will be as an infant outside my tummy. Kent and I have narrowed our list of names down. Well...Kent doesn't like all of these, just a few. Let me know what you think. Brylee, Julianne, Jenna, Chaney, and Kylie.
Hope everyone has a great week! I've only got 30 more days as a teacher. I'm ready to stay home and get things organized here for this little girl.

Weekend in Texas

Julie and I posing "belly to belly" outside of her house.
Mom and Dad to be!
Momma and her two pregos!

Jason and Julie had the ladies vote on their favorite name. They have had the hardest time deciding on a name. Finally, tonight, I got the call! His name is Jarett Wilson Baker. Fine choice Jason and Julie!

What a day!

It doesn't get much better than today! God is good! We are having a healthy baby GIRL, Derek played a great soccer game, I made the cutest scrapbook calendar at our ladies night, and Derek lost his first 2 teeth........yes 2!

As you can see the ultrasound pics aren't so good. I took them with my camera from the shiny, originals. First, is Derek's new smile. Then, the next 2 are of HER face. HER left hand is by HER head. The second one is a little better than the first one. You may be able to distinguish the face better. Next, two femurs and no wee wee :). And last, the arrow is pointing to the all important 3 lines that mean GIRL!

At the ultrasound, it was so funny. Derek has been saying girl for the longest and of course, Austin wanted a boy. So, when Dr. Watson said it was a girl, Austin hit the table with his fist and then was in a bad mood for several hours to follow. I don't think it was so much the girl part, but that Derek was right and he was wrong! I told him he could help me name her and that helped the attitude a little :)

I came home around 9:30 p.m. from our ladies night and Derek was awake and said his bottom teeth hurt. Now, I have tried at least 10 times to pull this stubborn tooth. I told him it needed to come out tonight! I tried 4 times and it finally came out!!!!!!! YAY! Then the tooth that was beside it scooted over to the middle immediately and became extremely loose. I told Derek I thought he could pull this one on his own.........and he did! So, right now, under his pillow, in a baggie, are 2 sweet little teeth. He also put 2 suckers in there for the Tooth Fairy!

It has been a great day! I'm going to TX tomorrow with mom to go to Julie's baby shower! I'll post pics of the two pregnant sisters soon!

It's a ........................

GIRL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I am in total shock! I'll try to post a few pics soon. But now I'm off to soccer! I'm having a ggggggggggggiiiiiiiiiiirrrrrrrrrrrrrllllllllll! WOW!

NEWS!

OK.....so here's the news. It was announced today at church that Kent will take over the job of Minister of Discipleship at our church by the end of the month, barring any Biblical objections from our members. Kent told the youth group this morning in class, so they wouldn't be caught off guard by the announcement. A few of them cried and at the end of service, several of our girls were in tears, which of course, made my tears come. But as I told them, we aren't leaving. For our family, this is the right decision. So, now we begin a two week period of Kent preaching next Sunday, a Q &A session on Wednesday the 24th. And if all goes as planned, Kent will begin his "new job" on the 28th. Of course, he will still be doing youth work until a new guy is found. We feel God's guidance in this change, but it will be a transition for us all. Youth ministry is all I've ever known as a wife, but I look forward to what God has planned for us in this new position.

Pumpkin Patch

Today we took the boys to the pumkin patch that a church down the road hosts each year. They played in the hay, had fun on the tire swing, got their faces painted, went on a hayride, and picked out the perfect pumpkin. Derek decided he wants to carve his this year and Austin still wants to paint his. The weather was PERFECT! Now we are enjoying a lazy Saturday, waiting for the Hog's game to start!

Soccer Pictures

Here are a couple of pictures of Derek playing soccer. So far this season he has scored 6 goals. I'm not sure how many saves he had when he played goalie.

Don't worry!

OK...don't worry about the end of the earlier post. We are NOT moving and NO it's not twins. It will be some new news, but nothing REALLY dramatic :)

Half Way!

Well, today we reached the 2o week milestone! I can't believe we are halfway there. I go to the doc. next Thursday the 18th. Hopefully, the baby will cooperate. If not........yellow and green, here we come!

On a school note.........next Monday I am beginning a new job. A second grade teacher in the district resigned last week and I am taking her position until December. I'm already used to getting up and getting ready and not being home till 4, so that won't change. The only thing that will change is the level of stress. Right now I have NONE! But, starting next week I'll have 21 kids relying on me to teach them what they need to know. I decided to take this position b/c I will make "teacher pay" for those 10 weeks instead of the "sub pay" I make now. It really wasn't a hard decision!

I still plan on posting soccer pics soon. We have another game tomorrow.

We also have a big announcement coming up, but I'll have to wait till next week to tell you all about it. Stay tuned!

Soccer season has begun!

Derek played in his first soccer game of the season tonight. His team did really well. They won 10-1 (they don't really keep score, but Derek does). Derek scored 3 goals and was so excited! He struggles being aggressive on the field, so this was a big ego boost. I'll post some pictures from this Thursday night's game. Oh........and the baby was going crazy during the game. Maybe it's because I was cheering so loud :) Or maybe I'm carring the next Mia Hamm......ha!

Running/Walking the football field

Here are some pictures from last night's game. The kids got to run through a "run-through" sign the teachers had painted. Derek was in the middle of the pack and as you can see in the picture, I helped bring up the rear. As we were about at the 20 yard line the wildcat came back out to urge us on.......so funny! Derek had a blast!

I love my doctor!

Have I mentioned before that Dr. Watson is the best doctor ever?!? I asked for an ultrasound fully expecting her to say no, but she said "sure, we'll take a look". I was so excited and called Kent to bring the boys up to the clinic. We saw it's head, abdomen, legs, but wouldn't ya know it.....we couldn't find out the sex! The boys were well behaved as she tried several times to find out what was between those long legs. Then after the ultrasound, I had to have a yucky mole removed that has quadrupled in size since I've been pregnant. Now have 3 stitches below my tummy. Those come out in a week and my next "real" doctors appointment is set for October 18 at 3:20. Maybe by then "he" will be proud to show off his business or "she" won't be modest :)

I'm subbing for one of the fourth grade teachers tomorrow. It should go pretty good since the kids are used to seeing me everyday. It's just those "BIG" attitudes I can't stand!

Derek gets to run the length of the football field at tomorrow nights game with his school. They are making a "run through" for them to tear down, just like the football players. Two elementary schools got to run last week and this week it's the other 2 schools. He's so excited! One of my 4th graders asked me if I was going to run........ha..........I just laughed!

The baby is growing!

Ok...Derek took this picture after a hard day at work, so I look awful! But, I just thought I'd show you how big the baby belly is getting. :)

Busy week!

So, I may only get time to post on weekends now. I had a really good week at Northwest Elementary. I am mostly working with the 4th grade. Wow...they (the students) have some attitudes, but the teachers are great. I also have lunch duty during Derek's time, so it's great to see him during the day.

Baby news! I felt the baby move already! I had to wait till the 19th week with both boys before I could feel them tumbling around. I'm wondering if this means this one is bigger or more active. Since Derek weighed 9lbs. 8 oz., I hope it's not bigger. And since Austin is one of the most active 3 year olds I know, I hope it's not busier than the little Tasmanian devil I already have! My next appointment is the 20th. She said she would wait until the Oct. appt. to do my ultrasound, but I'm going to beg to have it then. If she says yes, I'll call Kent and have him bring the boys up to the clinic so we can all be there. I'll let you know!

Even though my boys fight and argue, they really do love each other! Both boys for the last 2 Fridays have gotten to go to the treasure boxes in their classroom. Both boys picked out toys for the other one. Today Austin picked a green car for Derek and Derek picked a coloring book for Austin. It made my heart melt. Then we came home and within 5 minutes they started picking on each other, so I kicked them outside to play. You would have thought I had handed down the worst punishment possible! Kent came home 5 minutes later and saved the day!

Hope everyone has a great weekend.

Working

Just wanted to post that I got the job at Derek's school. I start Monday and report to the fourth grade teachers. Basically I will work with the students who are on the verge of special ed. placement and I will be doing intervention with them. I am so excited and thankful to God for answering my prayer. He is faithful!

Fishing

I tried to download pics and write inbetween them. I don't think I've mastered it, so if this looks strange or the words don't go with the pictures, I'm sorry!

We went to Bismarck to be with Grandma and Grandpa for Labor Day. The boys had been talking about going fishing for so long! We had a great time, although the fish were NOT biting! Grandma was the only lucky fisherwoman on Monday.

Austin helping Grandpa drive! This is one of his favorite things to do!

Derek enjoying the ride.

Praying for a fish to bite.

How cute is he!

Here's the lucky fish! Really lucky because he was thrown back in!

Subbing

So... baby #3 is going to be a lot more expensive than the other 2, so I'm now working! I subbed in a Kindergarten class yesterday. They were great, especially since it was only their 5th day of school. I've got another class on Tuesday in 2nd grade. Right now my prayer is specifically that I will get a full time "floating sub" job at Derek's school. This would only be for the 1st semester and would be great knowing that I could make plenty of money and not just when I can grab a sub job.

Well, I am already standing in my closet looking at all the clothes I can't wear. I don't know what I'll do for church tomorrow! I had Kent get the maternity box out of the shed on Thursday, not much in there made me too excited. Michelle, my friend from Mobile, gave me 2 big bags of clothes that are going to work. I'm going to send the mediums to Julie.

I am trying to step back and enjoy this pregnancy, since I know it will be the last! But sometimes I get caught up in the frenzy of everyday life and even forget that I'm carring my third child!

First Day of School!!!!!!!!!!!!

I sent my two precious boys off to school today. Derek is a 1st grader and Austin started 3 yr. old preschool 1/2 day. Both boys were a little nervous this morning, but neither cried when we left them. Little did we know that Derek would be at home again by 9 o'clock! He puked all in the hallway, poor maintence lady having to clean up puke on the first day of school! So, he got a half day on his first day! So much for perfect attendance! I just picked Austin up and he had a grin from ear to ear. He had a great day and is looking forward to tomorrow. I guess I'll keep Derek home tomorrow just as a precaution. As for the doctor's appointment, everything is fine. I can't really explain what I have been feeling for a couple weeks, but I had a really bad feeling going in to hear the heartbeat. I started crying when I was telling the nurse what I was feeling and my blood pressure was elevated quite a bit. So she got the more experienced nurse in there to find the heartbeat. It took all of 3 seconds! I started crying again! Thank you God that everything is great. So I am officially 13 weeks today. Thank you for praying for me.

Vacation!

We got back yesterday from a great vacation to Orange Beach, AL. The weather was perfect and the kids were good, couldn't ask for much more! We went with 2 other couples and their kids from church. The week went by too fast, but now we're tan and ready for school to start on Monday. I go to the doctor on Monday, too. I'm a little anxious about this appointment. Hopefully we will hear a strong heartbeat and everything will be fine. Please pray for my anxiety.
