My crush....

Do you recognize my crush? He's the star of the free credit report commercials...and I really like him! I especially like the car commercial, but the other two are funny, too. Twins, new best friend, and rice cereal....oh my!

Well, we always knew Derek looked like Kent, but here's proof. Amazing, isn't it! Kent's picture is from 2nd grade and the one of Derek was a few months ago at school. I love Derek's picture because of his missing teeth! I bought the whole package. I know...I'm a sucker :) Brylee has a new best friend. Meet Froggy. Apparently he is the funniest animal in the world. She will stare and smile at him and even give out a little coo. What a great friend! He just hangs around and is always there to talk to.
We also ventured into the world of solids this week. She did great. She took to it so much easier than the boys. And was diving for the spoon before it was all said and done.
We drove to Magnolia for pictures today. I'll let you know when the proofs are online so you can see them. She said it would be about 2 weeks. I'm so impatient. I want to see them now! We took family, just kids, mom and daughter, and just Brylee pictures. That's a lot for only a 30 minute time slot! I really can't wait to see them.

We're all healthy and happy here. It's going to be a busy next couple of weeks. Derek's ending up his school year. He's got field trips and field day and Kent's leaving for a week in Abilene next week!!! Not looking forward to that one! Keep us in your prayers as things are getting pretty hectic.

Contentment

Right now I'm struggling with contentment. Our small groups are discussing this topic on Sunday nights, and the good Lord knew I needed a few lessons on it! I want a bigger house, I want a new van, I want an updated kitchen (if I'm having to stay in this house), and the list goes on. I'm having trouble deciding which things are wants and actual needs. My van is 10 years old with 130,000 miles. Understand... she is my baby. So many things do not work, but she's paid for and runs ok. The air is tempermental, the TAPE PLAYER (no cd's here) doesn't work, only one window will roll down properly, and again the list goes on. We are planning on doing some traveling this summer...will this van make it? Who knows!

I love the verse in Philippians 4 where Paul says he knows what it is to be content. I'm trying to learn. It seems I have seasons of contentment, but I apparently am not in one of those at the moment. I am truly blessed with a wonderful husband, healthy children, and a stable income. I have to remind myself of my blessing daily. God is good and thankfully patient with me.

Jumpy thingy

Ok...I know the instructions say you have to be 6 months old and sit unassisted, but look at this face! Sorry it's almost been a week without a post. I've continued to read blogs, but haven't had much to say on mine. Life continues here.

Thanks Dani for the tag. I'm supposed to list 7 random or weird things about myself. I know this will be the most interesting post I've ever written......HA! Feel free to just skim over it friends!

1. I am extremely claustrophobic. This has gotten worse as I'm getting older. Also, along with that is a fear of confinement. I truly hate this and have even been on meds to help. Crazy, I know!

2. I can't wait to work out at the gym again. Brylee has to be 3 months old before she can be kept in the nursery there. I could go when Kent gets home from work, but that is usually the first time our family is together for the day and I hate to run out for a couple hours. I lost around 40 lbs. when I started a couple years ago, but sad to say it's all back on since the pregnancy!

3. I love reading the newspaper every morning. I also watch the 6 o'clock news every night.

4. I am a hair schizophrenic. I am currently blond with a cute short hair cut. But who knows, in a few months I may be back to red!

5. I am not a good housekeeper. I actually hired someone to clean my house before Brylee was born. I think it all stems from having a bedroom in the basement while growing up. I never cleaned it and no one knew. Julie, on the other hand, had a room in the main hallway of the house, so she had to keep it clean. And she keeps a neat house, too!

6. During my 8th grade year I was voted Ms. Pocahontas Middle School. Look at the initials people! Ms. PMS! That's right folks, I was Ms. PMS. Kent reminds of that fact quite often.

7. My senior year of high school I tore my ACL while celebrating a close win in basketball during the regional tournament. So embarrassing!

All about Derek!

I finally got Derek still enough to ask him some questions. He didn't think it was near as fun as Austin did!

Derek Michael Jobe was born July 11, 2000 in Mobile, Alabama. He is the smartest seven year old I know. He is a perfectionist and puts way more pressure on himself than we do. In fact, we try to downplay most things so he won't get stressed. He is your typical first born. He is a great leader, but doesn't like to be the center of attention. He has a soft, caring heart and is a great big brother. Derek is very athletic and likes to be outside. I love this boy so much. I can't wait to see what God has planned for his life.

I finally captured the smile we've been seeing for a week or so. Isn't she precious! Also, I was all smiles when we came home from spring break to see this in Brylee's room. Ann said she wanted to come over and paint while we were gone, and boy am I glad she did. I absolutely love it. She's going to put Brylee's initials in the heart. Thanks Ann!
