So funny!

Today we went to get Derek measured for his tux for Melanie Ponder's wedding. After we got back in the car, I told Derek he would be so hot in that tux. He procedes to say, "Do you mean hot cute or hot hot". I cracked up! Not that I don't think he will look super cute in the tux, but how funny that he thought I would use the word hot for him.

50 days!

So I went to Healthworks today to work out. When I punched my number in I told the lady it had been awhile since I had been there. She proceeded to tell me it had be 50 DAYS! I had no idea it had been over one and a half months. However, when I got on the scales upstairs I sure could tell! Well, back to the grindstone of working out, at least when we're in town.

2 weeks of camp, garage sale, and t-ball!! WHEW!

We are well into summer with the youth group. We've completed two successful weeks of Camp Kurios, we had a fundraiser garage sale for UPLIFT last week, and tball is over with the team party tonight. I counseled the girls in the 9th-11th grade. We had a great week. The theme was Proverbs and wisdom. I wish I had had some of the lessons they heard when I was 16 years old! We had a HUGE garage sale last weekend at church to raise $ for uplift (camp at Harding). We had a profit of over $3000. It was a lot of work, but well worth it. We leave for Harding this Saturday and will be back on Thursday, July 5. I promise, our house is more like the Holiday Inn Express during the summer than a actual home! I'm posting some pics of Derek and his tball team. He's a future Cardinal, I'm telling you! They moved the ages back this summer, so you had to be 7 by April 15 to play pitching machine. So we enjoyed our THIRD year of tball. Kent coached again and had so much fun with the 13 boys and 1 girl! You can see from the pictures that Austin takes after his organized dad. It drove him crazy that the boys threw their helmets all over the place!

Today has been a peaceful day. I planned on working out, but it's been kinda nice doing nothing. Maybe I'll go tomorrow!

Camp

Sorry it's been awhile since I posted something new. Last week was spent with over 100 Jr. week campers and staff. We will be leaving tomorrow for another week. This week is much more laid back because they are older. I'll post some pictures on here when we get home on Saturday. Oh the life of the youth ministers family.........got to love it!!!!!!!!!!!

New glasses!

I got new glasses yesterday! Yes, usually I wear contacts, but thanks to my wonderful 3 year old, I needed new glasses. Sometimes I wish I knew what was going on in his little mind. Like, "I wonder what these glasses would look like in 3 pieces instead of 1!" or a few months ago, "I wonder what would happen if I mixed hot chocolate mix with dawn soap on the kitchen floor!?!" I can tell you what happens, a sticky, chocolaty mess that really stinks for some reason!
So I go in to my eye doctor and tell him I need an eye exam and new glasses. He says puppies and preschoolers keep him in business. Well, thanks Austin! Dr. Parnell truly appreciates you and all your preschool friends!

Passion for Purity

Every 3 years at church we do a sexual purity campaign. In the past it has been called "True Love Waits". This year, due to the fact that our teens roll their eyes when they hear "true love waits", we changed the name. Kent and I decided on "Passion for Purity". We split the boys and girls up and then made smaller groups according to ages. The jr. high and sr. high girls just finished the "His Girl" study by Vicki Courtney. It is an 8 week long dvd/magabook experience. If you teach the teen girls at your church, I really recommend this study. It's not only about sexual purity, but purity throughout your entire life (modesty, friends, thoughts, etc). I'll put the author's link up so you can take a look if you want.

Anniversary trip to St. Louis

Many of you may not know this, but I LOVE THE CARDINALS! So, when planning our 10th anniversary trip, I wanted to go to a Cardinal game. It had been 2 years since we went last and I hadn't been in the new stadium. We went to Pocahontas to take the boys to Aunt Sissy and Uncle Joe on Friday. Saturday morning we headed up to St. Louis. We stayed in the Millennium Hotel, 1/2 block from the stadium. We walked around downtown, ate at the Spaghetti Factory (another favorite), and went to the game. We had good seats on the first row of the upper deck. It was nice not having people sitting in front of us and we could stretch our legs out. As the game progressed, the clouds began gathering. We knew there was a chance for rain so we packed the ponchos. It started raining, but we were in the 9th inning so we thought they'd play it out. NO! The umpire called for the game to stop with a runner on 1st and 2 outs! We couldn't believe it. We hung around and then decided to see how close we could get to the field. The masses were quickly leaving, so no one cared where the remaining fans went. After a 1 hr. and 41 min. rain delay, the game restarted. Two pitches later and the game was over. I ended up on the first row behind the dugout. Staying during the delay was so worth it! After the game Tony LaRussa pitched two balls to the preteen girls on my right! NOT ME! Then Isringhausen comes in with the game ball and tosses it to the preteen girl on my left! NOT ME! I guess I don't look as young as I feel. My wonderful husband, who was standing in the row behind me, said I should have flashed them to get a ball! I love this man! He didn't ask to leave or whine one time while I had the time of my life watching the ground crew throw tons of dirt to dry up the mud! Sunday, we went to church and then to St. Louis Mills. We spent too much time and too much money but we had a great time! I started feeling weird when we were leaving the mall. I bought a new jean jacket, so I fished it out of the bag and put it on. I was freezing. I thought I was going to pass out on the way back to downtown. I just thought I needed food. We ate at TGIFridays a few blocks from the hotel. I felt like I had Parkinsons. I couldn't quit shaking, I was so cold. We went back to the hotel and I got in bed and fell asleep (sorry Kent!) I woke up at 5:15 this morning and felt horrible. I woke Kent up and told him I was ready to go home. We left St. Louis at 6:30 a.m. I slept most of the way. We got to Pokey around 10 a.m. Kent went and got the boys from my sister, while I rested. We got on the road again for another 5 hrs. to arrive back home at 7:30 p.m. What a day! I'm feeling a lot better now. Another memorable anniversary trip for Kent and Cara. Our 1st anniversary was spent on Pensacola beach. Kent got sun poisoning the first day and we didn't touch for 3 days! Enjoy the pictures and notice how close I was to my man Albert!
